SAREE STORAGE | WASH | DRY CARE
STORE SMART YOUR LOVELY SAREE
- The saree should be stored in a cool, dry place - moisture is its enemy!
- Wrap it in muslin/cotton cloth ( we provide Pattuchela© muslin bag with our orders), and ensure no friction with other fabrics.
- Silica gel packets can be added to the bag to absorb extra moisture so that there is no fungal growth on the sarees.
- Silk sarees are best maintained if kept in a hanging position using a cloth/wooden/plastic hanger - no metal hangers.
- Unfold your silk sarees, air it and change the folding preferably every month.
WASH AND DRY CARE AT HOME
- Wash and rinse gently in plain cold water for the first three washes.
- Wash the body, pallu and border separately.
- For the subsequent washes, use a mild detergent and avoid using harsh chemicals.
- Use a mild protein shampoo and rinse with warm/cold water. Use soap nut for washing silk sarees to preserve the softness and shine of silks.
- Do not brush, beat and twist the saree; it might lead to tearing the zari.
- Don’t keep it wet for longer durations.
- Avoid drying it in direct sunlight. First towel-dry the saree to remove the excess moisture, then spread the saree open and let dry.
IRON WITH CARE
- While pressing, keep the iron in low/medium heat only.
- If the wrinkles don’t get straightened out, then cover the saree with a fine muslin cloth and iron in high heat.
- Press the saree in damp state with a warm iron, or use a steam iron(preferably for best results).
